Taylor bests LaFortune in poll of mayor's race

The Democratic challenger, who holds a double-digit lead, attracted more crossover votes, the poll indicates.

Kathy Taylor, the Democratic mayoral nominee, has opened a double-digit lead over the Republican incumbent, Bill LaFortune, the latest Oklahoma Poll shows.

In a telephone survey of 511 likely voters in Tuesday's city elections, 49 percent said they would vote for Taylor, a former state commerce secretary making her first bid for elective office. LaFortune was the choice of 34 percent, and two independent candidates shared 3 percent. Fourteen percent were undecided or refused to answer.
