Clinton, McCain are early favorites

A poll consultant says name recognition plays a big role in the responses to questions about the 2008 campaign.

U.S. Sens. Hillary Clinton and John McCain are the early choices of Oklahoma voters for the 2008 presidential nominations, according to the latest Oklahoma Poll.

Clinton was the preference of 28 percent of 420 Democrats surveyed Jan. 19-21 by SoonerPoll.com -- 5 percentage points more than former U.S. Sen. John Edwards. But she faces a big obstacle to winning Oklahoma's 2008 primary: 35 percent of Democrats said they would not vote for Clinton under any circumstances.
